School Association

Please see the school calendar for details of events.  Please check calendar nearer the time as some events scheduled may change.

Yatton Infant School Association (YISA) is run by parents, to raise money to support the school in all sorts of ways and to help fund those ‘extras’, which make such a difference to the children.

In recent years, the Association has raised money for Interactive Whiteboards and a gazebo in the playground to provide shelter from the sun and a rain. We are committed to giving each class an annual grant to help with the replacement of worn out toys, games and equipment, subsidising the cost of school trips, and funding visits to the school by theatre groups.

School Association Bonfire Night, 2006We raise these funds by organising all sorts of events – large and small.

The main events may already be familiar to you as they are well established in the community. We run the village bonfire and firework night, a Christmas Fayre and the Summer Carnival.

Other events include family discos and “Cake Fridays” (the latter especially popular with the children!)

The Association also supplies our school uniform. Top-up orders for uniform can be made throughout the year (as long as items are in stock). Please take your order and money to the school office. Orders are usually dealt with once a week, so you may have to wait a few days.

The Association also offers parents the opportunity to insure their child annually through the “Pupils Personal Accident and Insurance Scheme” in conjunction with the Junior School Association. You will receive a letter about this at the beginning of each school year.

All parents automatically become members of the Association (staff and governors are represented too). But in order to make all this happen, we need volunteers to join the committee.

Apart from the AGM, meetings are informal and usually held in committee members’ houses. Each year, the Association loses committee members as their children leave the school, and we always need more members to join the team. It’s a great way to get involved in school life, make a difference to our children and the local community as well as make new friends. If you cannot commit to joining the committee, the Association also need lots of willing helpers to give a small amount of their time.

If you would like to help out in any way or want to know more about any of the events the School Association organises, please contact Lyndsey Sprod via the School Office.

Please help if you can.
