It’s official! We are a “Healthy School”

Healthy Schools logoWe are delighted to announce that on 2nd July we were awarded with the Healthy Schools status at a special event in Weston-super-Mare.

As a celebration of this award, we are having a Healthy Schools Week starting Monday, 16th July.

We have lots of fantastic activities lined up for the children including yoga workshops, smoothie-making, sports coaching, our own sports afternoon… and lots more!

A Healthy School

Healthy SchoolsWe are working hard to become a “Healthy School” with lots of new initiatives to promote a healthy learning environment.

Water Bottles have been sent home with the children this week. These should be brought to school daily and will be kept on children’s desks to enable them to have a regular intake of water throughout the day.

We are setting up a trial run of a Walking Bus later on this month, and have also launched a competition for the children to creative some healthy lunchboxes. We look forward to receiving their entries!

The School Association also have some great fundraising events lined up. Don’t forget to come to see the puppet show on 19 May at 10 o’clock in the School Hall (with some tasty refreshments afterwards).

It’s not too early to get your thinking caps on for your carnival costume for the 16 June. The theme of this year’s Summer Carnival is “Book Characters”.

We look forward to seeing you all!

World Book Day – 1 March

We will be celebrating World Book Day with a special day full of book-themed activities.

book-day.gifDuring the afternoon, the whole school will come together for a massive ‘bedtime story’.

So, we thought it would be great fun if children came to school in pyjamas , brought their favourite book (named) and even a teddy or pillow to cuddle up with!

We will also be launching our Reading for Gold, Family Reading Challenge on that day.

Finally, we would like a book swap. If children have old books that they no longer read and would like to swap them with their friends, please bring them in on the day. Look out for more information at the beginning of next term.
