When a giant came to school!

Reception and Year 1 children enjoyed the key skills mystery of the big shoe!

The Mystery BootMrs Lamb made an enormous shoe that was left in the hall for the children to find in the morning. Using a bit of “police-like” cordoning and staff acting skills, the children were drawn into a series of activities that had them questioning, using their imaginations, asking unusual questions and problem solving alongside lots of literacy and art.

The question of who the shoe belonged to and how it got there was solved by the arrival of a huge letter shared with the children in assembly a couple of days later.

An exciting learning experience was had by all!

The Foundation Stage Curriculum

The Foundation Stage begins when the children reach the age of three and continues until the end of their Reception year. The curriculum is organised into six important areas:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Communication, Language and Literacy
  • Mathematical Development
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the World
  • Physical Development
  • Creative Development

Outdoor Learning

Our outdoor environment provides a range of experiences to enhance the children’s learning across all six areas.

We also have the flexibility to make the most of learning opportunities as they arise. For example when it snows we take the children outside to explore using all their senses and have fun!
