Sustainable School
We are looking at ways to become a more sustainable school and share that thinking with the local community. We have signed up to a project called Money to Schools, which recycles used inkjet cartridges and old mobile phones in exchange for cash for the school that we can spend on resources and equipment.
You can support our Money to Schools fundraising programme by donating your own empty printer cartridges and mobile phones. We have a collection box in the school office.
Please check the list below before bringing in your cartridges to make sure they can be collected as part of this project before donating them to us!
Thank you for your support.

Zero Waste Lunchbox Challenge

The school took part in a zero waste lunchbox challenge which focused on the Reduce, Reuse and Recyle message and to make children and their parents more aware of how to have a packed lunch that doesn’t produce waste.
Members of the School Council, with the help of Julia Cruse, measured and recorded lunchbox waste on 7th May – according to whether it could be reused, composted, recyled or destined for the bin.
The children and Mrs Taylor wrote a fantastic song that they sang to their parents to tell them about the challenge and 48 children out of 146 managed to have their packed lunch with no waste at all!
The School Council came up with some ideas to reduce lunchbox waste in the future:
- more washable pots for yoghurt and crisps (filled from bigger tubs and packets)
- fewer juice cartons and use other drinks containers instead
